2018 Competition Judges

Busola Ajala

Busola Ajala is a solution-oriented corporate commercial lawyer with experience in diverse industries which includes Real Estate, Oil and Gas and presently Telecoms, where she has had the opportunity to advise and consult on several local and cross-border transactions. She helps corporate organizations, SMEs and individuals solve simple and complex business issues deploying her legal tools. Busola is a master practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programing and an EQ Specialist. She trains and equips people with tools for Emotional Intelligence. She is also an international speaker. Being a Positive change & National Development Advocate, Busola strongly believes in the possibility of a new Nigeria. She is a foodie who enjoys cooking, culinary tutoring, visiting new places whilst sharing memorable time with family and friends.

Ope Odejayi

is a legal officer with the Central Bank of Nigeria. She is a graduate of Lagos State University. She holds the CCEPI certificate (Chartered Compliance and Ethics Profeddional Intl’; Society of corporate compliance and Ethics, Designate Compliance Professional- Compliance Institute of Nigeria.

Prince Issa Adedokun

Prince Adedokun a former Chairman of Young Lawyers’ Forum NBA Ikeja and the current Assistant Secretary of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja Branch. He attended University of Ado- Ekiti, Ekiti State where he obtained Diploma in Law with a Distinction and LL.B (Hons). He also attended the University of Lagos where he obtained his Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2011. He did his mandatory youth service with the firm of Adeniyi Akintola, SAN & Co in the year 2011 and was retained thereafter until the year 2013 when he quit to set up his own legal consultancy firm. He is a Consulting Partner at AD Attorneys, Elisio Law Office and WAF Solicitors all based in Lagos. He is at the moment undergoing his Doctoral research in Private and Property Law at the School of Post-graduate Studies University of Lagos, Akoka. Prince Adedokun is a Human Right Activist who has carved a niche for himself in providing free legal services to the less privileged and has handled several pro bono cases for less privileged Nigerians in a bid to promote prison decongestion, human rights and quick access to justice. He is a member of Boards of Trustees, WEAR A FLAG INITIATIVES (WAFI) and THE NEXUS FOR JUSTICE AND HUMANITARIAN AID INITIATIVE respectively, NGOs incorporated to render pro bono services for the less privileged in Nigeria. He has dedicated his life to promoting unity and patriotism in Nigeria and across the globe. During his Masters degree programme at the University of Lagos, he won to his credit a Postgraduate award in the University and was seconded to the Commercial and Industrial Law Department by the University as a Graduate/Teaching Assistant with particular schedule of duties on Law of Contract. He was a Research Assistant to Professor Joseph Abugu, Professor C. K Agomo and Prof. A.M Sani of the Commercial and Industrial Law Department, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos between 2013 and 2015. He currently lectures Law at the Lagos State Polytechnic, School of Part-Time studies, Ikorodu, since 2012, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Greenvine centre, Lagos State, Ronik Polytechnic Ejigbo, Lagos State and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Greenvine centre, Lagos State. He is also an astute and ingenious advocate who specializes in Civil and Commercial Litigation and has successfully engaged in the business advisory spectrum, especially in Corporate, Labour , Electricity, Oil and Gas Transactions and criminal law. His career history speaks much to his level of experience. He is a strong advocate for youth development and passionate about public service and community development. He is a member of Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA).

Faruq Abass

is the Managing Partner of Abdu-Salaam Abbas & Co. He specializes in commercial litigation, labour and employment law, property law, debt recovery, alternative dispute resolution and family law. He appears regularly at different levels of the Court system in Nigeria and some of the lawsuits, which he has been involved in, have been reported in Nigeria Weekly Law Reports (NWLR), Commercial Law Reports Nigeria (CLRN), Nigerian Labour Law Reports, Appellate Court Employment Law Report (ACELR) and Law Pavilion Electronic Law Reports (LPELR). He is an accredited Trademark Agent, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) Nigeria Branch, Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA), ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (YAF) and the Young ICCA (International Council for Commercial Arbitration). He acts regularly as Counsel to both employers and employees in employment law related lawsuits at the National Industrial Court and he has acted as Counsel in some landmark employment lawsuits. He successfully argued an appeal at the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division in an appeal involving the wrongful dismissal of a former Chief Executive Officer of a multinational company and he successfully defended a Claim for the sum of N160,570,173.57 (One hundred and sixty million, five hundred and seventy thousand, one hundred and seventy-three naira, fifty-seven kobo), which was brought against his Client, a trading company, by a Bank at the High Court of Lagos State. He also recently led the legal team, which obtained judgment in favour of a Claimant in a landmark lawsuit at the National Industrial Court (NIC), Lagos involving workplace discrimination based on the health status of an employee and he is currently Defending a multinational company in a lawsuit involving the wrongful usage of the Claimants’ photograph in a marketing campaign. In addition to his commercial litigation practice, Faruq regularly advises several high net worth clients in transactions involving the acquisition of properties in various parts of Lagos State. His hobbies are playing chess and reading the autobiographies of successful business and political leaders.

Omolade Lawal

is a Legal practitioner with close to 10 year post call experience. She is a member of the International Bar Association and also Nigerian Bar Association. Omolade achieved her Bachelor of Laws from the University Of Ilorin, Kwara State, B.L from Nigerian Law School and National Youth Service in 2007, 2008 & 2009 respectively. She furthered her educational career by obtaining Master of Laws from the Prestigious University of Lagos in 2015. She started her legal career with Grace Info Tech Limited (GITL) in 2009 as a Legal Analyst, with a keen interest in Commercial Law, she rose through the ranks to become the Head of the Commercial Department of the Company targeted at Solicitors and Commercial Practitioners and currently a Senior Management staff at Lawpavilion Business Solutions Ltd. Her areas of Legal competence include Litigation, Corporate Practice, Commercial Law Reporting/Analysis, ADR, Contracts, Negotiation, Risk Management and Project Management. She has a natural flair for managing and executing projects and she has over the years successfully organized and managed various projects for the company.

Adedunmade Onibokun

is a Lawyer and Author, whose legal practice focuses on Corporate Commercial Law. He is the Managing Partner at Adedunmade Onibokun & Co, a law firm with offices in Lagos and Abuja. As counsel he leads on corporate and commercial matters across different sectors in Nigeria. Adedunmade is internationally recognized for his legal advocacy work via The Legalnaija Blawg, an online legal resource platform dedicated to empowering Nigerians with legal information and education. Adedunmade’s book, Legal Rights and Obligations Under Nigerian Law, educates its reader on Nigerian laws and the various legal obligations under same. He is an Alumni of the Olabisi Onabanjo and the University of Bradford, where he obtained his LLB and LLM respectively. Adedunmade has contributed several articles to both local and international journals. He has also appeared on various media platforms as a regular analyst on national issues.
